Renee Shaffer has been a NCBTMB U.S.nationally board certified massage therapist/bodyworker (http://www.ncbtmb.org/) for almost 20 years. She is licensed in the state of South Carolina #2626. In addition, Ms. Shaffer has a M.Ed. in Educational Administration and has completed coursework for a PhD. (ABD) in Higher Education Administration with a cognate in Public Health and a Ph.D. in Health Education. She is highly regarded for her clinical work as well as in her teaching. She has been a senior instructor of massage therapy, anatomy and physiology, structural anatomy, and clinical neuromuscular therapy at various massage schools. In addition, she is an instructor as the University of South Carolina. She prides herself with keeping current with trends in bodywork and human anatomy/medical research as it pertains to massage therapy and trains with the industry's experts. While her expertise lies in pain management and post-surgery massage, the study of Eastern modalities of massage therapy including acupressure, Tuin Na, Thai, and Ayurveda is of special interest.
Ms. Shaffer's advanced training and expertise includes: Medical massage cupping (Anita Shannon), reflexology, orthopedic and pain management (James Waslaski) massage, cranio-somatic, myoskeletal alignment techniques (Erik Dalton) and neuromuscular (Paul St. John and Kyle Wright) massage. Previous clients have run the gamut from members of the military, celebrities, professional athletes to members of our retirement community. She donates massage therapy services to various non-profits and community events in the Columbia, SC such as the Ronald McDonald House and the City of Columbia Emergency Winter Shelter.
In addition, Ms. Shaffer recently retired from the State of South Carolina public service as the senior instructional designer at the University of South Carolina.
